Recently, Elite welcomed students from Lipscomb Academy’s IGNITE program. This program is a one-year commitment that allows students to learn outside of the traditional classroom in fields that interest them. Elite was very excited to demonstrate different aspects of the practice for these young, curious minds. The IGNITE students had the opportunity to learn about Elite’s full-body MRI machine, tour the physical therapy department, discover casting and bracing from Elite’s DME (Durable Medical Equipment) tech, as well as hear from one of the athletic trainers, Ken Tyler, about his exciting job!
Dr. Harold Smith has shared that his students truly enjoyed the experience; “It was interesting how each rotation appealed to different students. I asked them which part was best and the hands raised were equally divided among all three!”
Elite was ecstatic to open the doors to the IGNITE program, especially to provide a glimpse at a possible future career choice for these inquisitive high school students. Elite looks forward to seeing IGNITE students back again in the future and hopes that the students that visited learned some valuable information that will be included in their capstone presentations.
